Dr. Yau May Yann is a Sports Physician currently working at Sarawak General Hospital, Kuching. She graduated from University Malaya with a Masters in Sports Medicine in 2017. She has been providing her services for the community, including those with musculoskeletal injuries, rehabilitation of post-surgery Orthopedic procedures, educating coaches under Akademi Kejurulatihan Kebangsaan, and also as a Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) trainer for general practitioners under the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) in Borneo. She also provides sports medical coverage in national and international sports events such as the SEA Games, Inter-professional Games (IPG), Borneo Games, and Sukan Malaysia (SUKMA), to name a few. Additionally, she regularly updates herself with recognized certificates such as AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), and Immediate Care In Rugby (ICIR) Level 1 to support her role as a medical team doctor for Sarawak United Football Club. As a sports physician, she also provides sports medicine services to able-bodied athletes under Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) as well as disabled athletes from the Paralympic community. She is passionate about providing healthcare consultations to young athletes at a state sports school in Kuching. Dr. Yau believes that exercise is medicine and advocates for everyone to participate in a healthy lifestyle and exercise, regardless of age as a barrier.
