Dr Ahmad Hata Rasit is a Professor of Orthopaedics at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UNIMAS. As Orthopedic Surgeon, he provides the clinical service to patient with the orthopedics problem admitted in Sarawak general hospital. In 2002, he setup the pediatrics orthopedics service in Sarawak general hospital after the increasing need of the number of pediatrics orthopedics cases referred from Sarawak. In 2005 attachment in Royal Melbourne Hospital, Royal Women Hospital, Royal Children Hospital, Mercy Private Hospital and St Vincents Hospital of Melbourne. During the attachment in Melbourne, Australia at these hospitals, he learned the skills of management of common pediatrics orthopedics problem as well as limb reconstructive surgery especially Ilizarov surgery. He researches focus are the orthopedics problem especially spine tuberculosis and general pediatrics orthopedics and recently on wound healing and antimicrobial peptide. Apart from providing the clinical service, He also contributed significantly on the administration and appointed as Dean ( 2012-2019), Deputy Dean (Undergraduate & Student Development)(2006-2012), Faculty of Medicine and Health sciences. He has also contributed to medical profession and he was appointed as a member of the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) from 2006- 2012 and re-appointed in 2014-2017 and 2017-2020 by the Minister of Malaysian Ministry of Health to maintain high standards of medical practice in Malaysia.
